About the Nursery

Broadstone Christian Nursery was established in January 1991 by Mrs Gwladys Vaughan an ex Headteacher of a local First School who took early retirement as she believed young children needed a breadth of experiences and skills to help them through life.

Her aim was that:

children could enjoy and have fun whilst learning and develop self confidence.

Her daughter Penny joined her and continues to carry out her mother's passion and vision for the nursery. The nursery provides high quality care as well as teaching and learning in a stimulating and well resourced environment.

The nursery has it's own outdoor area with an all weather shelter, rustic kitchen plus much more...

All children are welcome at the nursery and all individual needs are met and supported.

This is a Christian service for young children and we base our philosophy and beliefs on the teaching of the Bible and the Christian values of life. We firmly uphold the need to learn to care about and share our world with each other. All children are welcome at our nursery.

The Broadstone Christian Nursery opened in 1991 in response to a request by a growing number of parents for a place that can offer the youngest children quality opportunities prior to them starting mainstream education at the age of four years plus.

It is a preparation for school in a warm family atmosphere, offering a good foundation in the development of the early skills for reading, writing, mathematics and the scientific and thinking skills of observation, enquiry, reasoning, estimation, problem solving and decision making across the seven areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage, as well as building up their own Personal self- esteem and confidence.

There are daily opportunities to explore and investigate with art and craft materials, science, ICT, music, dancing and early design and technology. Getting to know about our selves and how our body works, developing movement and games skills and the social skills of caring and playing together. We aim to meet their individual interests and needs and offer the best care and learning environment possible.

The best and most natural Teacher for each child is the Parents and that must not be underestimated. This is acknowledged by all nursery staff who work in close partnerships with parents. A child’s parents themselves need to feel confident and happy in order for both to benefit. It is hoped that this small group can fulfil that need and become part of the extended family for each child.

As a mother of grown up children I have always been and remain passionate and enthusiastic about giving children as many experiences and opportunities as I can in order for children to develop a broad range of skills and interests in their formative years as well as good life skills.

The small staff team are highly experienced and qualified. The staff have high but realistic expectations for children’s learning and achievement, so children can naturally have an enjoyment and love for learning. Being a small nursery, staff can work with children in large and small groups as well as give them 1:1. Children thrive in a warm nurturing environment but need to have consistency and a routine. They learn through play and by having fun.

The nursery is a 'free flow' setting where children can move freely between indoors and outdoors enabling them to explore the world around them whilst encouraging them to take risks and make their own decision.
